I am a lifelong resident of Virginia and have lived in Hanover County for the past 4 years with my husband Mike and my children Madison and Mason.
I have a Master's Degree in Environmental and Natural Resource Policy and have spent my career working to protect the environment at the state, federal, and non-profit levels.
In my free time I like to visit state and local parks with my family and explore the many museums, farmer's markets and festivals Virginia has to offer.
I am running for office because we need a General Assembly that spends their time improving our schools instead of constantly asking them to do more with less. We need a General Assembly that spends their time finding ways to improve our environment instead of finding ways to reduce the protections that keep us safe. And we need a General Assembly that works for Virginia citizens and not just Virginia Corporations.
I am passionate about protecting the environment. Virginia needs to embrace renewable energy in order to create more jobs in this growing industry and slow the impacts of climate change. I have seen first hand how government and businesses can work together for a healthier environment. When the government rolls back protections on clean air and clean water, we all pay the price.
I believe that Virginia has the best public schools in the Country, but we cannot continue to ask them to do more with less resources. We need to fill our open teaching positions with quality educators by ensuring our teachers earn competitive salaries. Parents deserve access to quality pre-k opportunities to start kids off right. Quality education is fundamental to a quality workforce.
I will work to address gerrymandering by advocating for nonpartisan redistricting. Voters should pick their legislators, not the other way around.
As the Delegate for the 55th District I will be responsive to all of my constituents, not just the ones that share my party affiliation.
I will seek out information and opinions from the residents of the 55th District to make decisions that are informed from all sides of an issue. We need legislators that listen to the people affected by their legislation.
I will work to move us away from the "us vs. them" mentality that has brought government to a standstill. We need a General Assembly that can work together in order to best serve the people of Virginia.
I am running for House of Delegates because I believe we need legislation based on common sense, common decency, and common ground.
This is a grassroots campaign powered by people and not special interests. I believe that our legislators need to be more transparent about where their donations come from. For information about donations made to me and my opponent please click HERE.
